Belt and Road Initiative Map

The New Silk Roads: Belt & Road Initiative + Greater Eurasian Partnership transport corridors

The map is set on a "globe" view of Eurasia and its surroundings, centered on Samarkand, the nexus of millennia old Eurasian trade routes.

It shows rail corridors (completed and under construction), maritime routes as well as main pipelines of the China led BRI and Russia led GEP network.

GEP corridors already have got commonly used names while for BRI ones I took the liberty to choose appropriate ones.

BRI RAIL

- Steppe Route (fully operational)

- Khorasan Route (partial, uses Caspian sea crossing now)

- Karakoram Route (under development)

- Malay Route (Laos link under construction)

BRI MARITIME

- Mediterranean Route (Piraeus, Venice)

- Red Sea Route (Port Soudan, Djibouti)

- Gulf Route (Kharg, Dammam, Dubai)

- Swahili Coast Route (Mombassa, Dar Es Salam)

GEP Rail

- Trans-Siberian/Manchurian/Mongolian (existing)

- Primorye 1 & 2 (Project)

- International North-South Corridor (Last gap at Astara-Rasht under development) + Chabahar-Mumbai maritime leg.

GEP MARITIME

- Arctic Route (via Bering Strait)

Pipelines (gas and oil) are all completed and operational.
